I do get the intent behind the new rule, after all, they call it the World Driving championship, not the World Engineer championship (aka Constructors championship).
I think they ought to approach it a different way though. I think they ought to get rid of all telemetry from the car to the pits, with perhaps the exception of tire pressure or a few major engine functions...really only those with a material safety impact.
Then make the radio all they want it to be, the driver can read out to his hearts content and listen as far as he wants, but there is no data on the car in the pits (other than the few exceptions I mention).
Part of driving is managing the car, its capabilities and current handicaps.....
