One of the shows I enjoy is Wheeler Dealers. Ed China works on some weird vehicles. One of them he had to remove most of the front suspension on a car to see the alternator. It was hours of work to swap it out.
I guess some cars have the alternator buried in the intake valley so you have to remove the entire intake manifold to even get to the alternator.
