The 911 is the halo car, it isn't going anywhere. Porsche tried to kill it once, that didn't work out so well.
Having owned the 996/997 and 986/987, I'd rate the 986/987 as the funnest of the modern Porsches. Superb balance, instant response, and a light and nimble feel that the 911 can't match. Fantastic cars.
