The question is what are "normal forces"? I don't think putting an iPhone 6 Plus in your back pocket and sitting on it counts as "normal forces". The butt can make a natural pivot point and the leverage put through that pivot point can be too much. The rib structure required to increase rigidity would make it very difficult to package the internals.
The answer is don't sit on the damn phone!
