Check the venturi's, they should be 32. If they are 28's they for the VW. Most Webers that were purchase in reason years, were setup for the VW. The emulsion tubes, jetting, and etc. may need to be change.
If you can not find anyone in Seattle area that can help with your Webers. There is an old Factory trained Porsche mechanic in Springfield, Oregon. That can help you sort them out. He rebuilt mine in 2003 and they are smooth through corners, on straight aways, up and down mountains and have not needed to be touched since, no backfires or hiccups.
