If you want to get technical, there's not a lot that's funny about writing in a dialect that is not your own to poke fun at a group. Any sense of humor that regularly leaves somebody offended should be kept quiet. Putting your racist interpretation of somebody with very little education and a very easy-to-jab way of speaking on a public forum isn't actually funny to most of us. You should ask yourself if this would seem funny in a room full of black men. If the answer is no you've also answered the question of whether our senses of humor need work or your humor is simply offensive.
If your writing isn't enough, maybe you should do a blackface performance, too. It's the same humor. -- Matt (not old enough to be called a geezer BTW)
