The top in the picture is not painted, that is the black gelcoat finish. The top can very easly be covered with oem type vinyl . No sewing - just glue it down, fold the edges under glue them down and trim the excess. I covered one of my hardtops for about $22.00 and the headliner was even less. one paint shop i approached quoted me about$150.00 to paint my top, but i think you could paint it yourself for less than half that. I have a prototype top that i might have painted red to match the car so people will notice it, although you could set it on fire and a lot of coupe guys would never notice it.
