I had a daughter in college in a remote part of MI and have another at USNA. Both went/go for extended periods of time without 110v. I got them both Mophie battery packs that will recharge an iPhone 2.5 times. For myself I have a very small Mophie good for about a half of a recharge. Waht I like about it is that it's very small and has a built in lightning cable and a built in USB like a thumb drive. Mophie makes good products.
FWIW - anyone else have trouble with cheap lightning cables?

I normally would have ignored the item myself but a friend had one with her last weekend and swore by it. She loved the thing.
The cheap lightning cables are cheap because they are missing a chip that authenticates them as an Apple approved peripheral which is why you get the message when you use it.
Apple don't want to replace hardware because we fried it using a cheap peripheral.
And naturally they to protect their eco system as well.
