How / what is the gearing? With 20" tires, you must need some really high ratios, but the chainrings don't look unusually big, do you have a 8 tooth cog or similar?

46/39 front and 11-28 10 speed rear for now. I had a 53 on front, but because the bottom bracket is higher than normal, the chain would rub on the bottom of the cage. I had a choice to either go smaller or retrofit the cage. Given my normal riding pattern, I decided to go with the smaller chainring. I still have the 53 tooth chainring and can always retrofit the cage later. By retrofit, I mean cut the cage and solder in an extension. I've looked into the extension and it does not look too difficult. The early mountain bikers used to do this on a regular basis.
I am also thinking about gearing down for the low chainring, because I ride up Queen Anne hill regularly.
