I haven't had cable in years. I had DTV with tivo as an additional room till my uncle in US cancelled it. Been using nothing but Netflix for 8+ months. Recently the Cable-co started annoying me that they wanted to give me free cable and PVR for 6months. I finally said fine install it.
Having used Directv and tivo previously, I was quite underwhelmed with what Canada has to offer. I've never seen so many commercials, and the Canadian PVR is pretty much setup so you must watch some commericals every 1/2 hour (10 minute buffer) when using live tv. Movie only channels all seem to have commercials.
A 15 year old tivo is a better PVR then the newest the local cable company offers.
I don't think I've watched cable more then 3 hours since they installed it 2 months ago. I keep going back to netflix. And that is Canadian netflix which is a watered down version of what you guys in the US have.
I will definitely be returning the box before my 6 month promo ends.
