Any self defense weapon has to stop the bad person(s) and the user has to be mentally ready to use it!

Financially ready as well, because you're going to be lawyered up for years to come in order to stay out of prison.

Not much of a concern if you just let them kill you and your family I suppose. Personally I'll take my chances, as well as live in a state with laws that allow citizens to still depend themselves.
