I use a live trap baited with an open can of cat food to catch and release them. I take them to the other side of the river 10 miles down the road and release them on a back road behind an exclusive gated community. (Evil laugh) To keep them from unloading their stink, I hold up a tarp in front of me while I approach the trap. They don't perceive the tarp as a threat and won't spray. Once the trap is wrapped up, put it in the back of the pickup and drive off. When at the site of release, put the trap on the ground, pull the tarp from in front of the door, slide open the door (with leather gloves of course) and the little stinker will come out. Sometimes like a bolt of lightning and other times a slow mosey. The battery in my camera died waiting for this one to finally make his move.
