Or... If you just want to get out on the water and have your own space on the glistening ocean; get out there on a stand up paddleboard.
I get out on the water every chance I get on mine, and much prefer it to kayak/canoes. They are easier to lift onto car roofs, easier to squeak into small places in the garage, they surf waves really well. I've even done white water paddleboarding
Through the winter I didn't wear a wetsuit, I just hoped I wouldn't fall in
