Well from the camera viewpoint (just out of view to the right of screen where car came to a stop) I couldn't tell if workers were at that station and waving the yellows.
Agree 100% that yellows are only as good as the dudes driving, who are expected to obey them. Fellas in a race group should have a bit more situational awareness than DE peeps. It would seem that the cars leading the eventual crash car created a visual screen. You can see how the crash car and its following roadster sort of pop into view from behind the group as they approach the stalled car.
I also think the text at the end of the video should say something to the effect of here's-why-having-a-HANS-is-a-good-idea. Saying "Wear your HANS" implies that some drivers have them and choose not to wear them?
Yep his head did go forward to start but that still doesn't change the fact that his head snapped sideways afterwards. Play & pause the video during the slow motion portion and watch how far his entire body moves to the right inside the car. Wow.........
The windshield definitely flies out in one big piece when not glued into the gasket & frame, or not retained by windshield hold-down tabs! I can't tell for sure but it looks like that windshield had no retaining tabs. Not sure how effective the tabs would be but they are required for specifically this reason.
I wonder what happened to the roadster that was trailing the battering ram car. It was following right behind the incoming car almost right in its tracks like it was playing follow the leader.
Guys, DO NOT let your wife see this video or she'll fight you tooth & nail to never drive your car on the track again. An incident like that is one of a driver's and significant other's worst fears.
