I have a couple engines I am rebuilding right now. The forward cover for the alternator inside the shroud was weak and the vanes used to deflect the air towards #1 and #2 cylinders were worse. The vanes are some composite phenolic material... really strange. Later versions of the vanes are riveted to the underside of the shroud. My vanes are riveted to the plastic cone shaped housing on the front of the alt/fan assembly. This is what I started with...after two coats of clear lacquer to lay the fibers down.

Not sure what the material is, but there are definitely fibers

I laid up fiberglass molds

Separated

And trimmed

Glassed an additional layer at a 45 degree angle

Cleaned up the plastic cone

And trimmed and mounted

Done and installed in here...2.7 RS spec MFI for the 914-6...almost done.
