*CV About a month ago I thought we'd better get some replacements for the CVs that I bought through Lindsay Racing. I had bought those very expensive Axles and CVs that they sell for about $1200 a set. They get them through the Driveshaft shop. When they initially started selling these back a few years they had issues with them so they came out with a new stronger version. Anyway, I went straight to the Driveshaft shop rather than via LR. I thought if it was just for some CVs why not. Should make it faster and maybe cheaper. However as usual something always goes wrong especially when in another country to the vendor. So the guy I'm communicating with says sure we can sell you those. I make sure he knows that they are the V2 of what they sell through LR. I send him pics showing both versions. He asks are these the 33 spline ones to which I reply, I think so but as they're on the car and I don't have them in front of me, just check your notes for whatever you sell through LR. Can't be that hard surely....Silly me. Not only do they not arrive until 2 days before the event, they don't fit. Of course they don't. I email him back and 'advise' him of his mistake to which he just replies "I just sent what you asked for". No you didn't. You sent parts that don't fit. Why didn't you check what you send LR. All he comes back with is "Well send them back and we can refund you or send you the right ones" THANKS BUDDY!!!!!!!!
So when we went out on Day 1 of the event on the old Version 1's they lasted about 3 laps before the same inside left cage destroyed itself. We were able to put one of the V2's together and replace it but never got the chance to improve our times. Gotta love vendor mistakes.
This is Paul's 2nd (and last) timed lap. He was deliberately trying to reign in the wheel spin. Fast forward to about the 3:30 mark as I've not had time to edit. Note the white GTR in front. This is the one that took out the Open class title with a 1:30.4 As many of you know, our car is pretty fast. We were running a bit more boost than we normally do at the Porsche club events however check when we're not that far behind the GTR leading onto the main straight and then see where we are a few seconds later! That shows you how fast these other cars are. Just beastly!!!
