I recently purchased a 1983 Sonderwunsch slantnose with no headlight gills, and I've spent the past two weeks gathering EVERYTHING I can from Pelican, Rennlist, PCGB, and elsewhere on the internet to learn more about these special cars. The mysterious pre-M505/506 cars especially fascinate me.

Like Dave said, websites fade away, and I'm skeptical if PCA will start a database for us as I don't think they do that for any other models.
So I've been organizing photos and data into a .pdf file that is searchable and divided into chapters. If you would be willing to contribute what you have I promise to make the .pdf available for free to anyone who wants it. This way when enthusiasts ask questions you can email them the .pdf from your hard drive if it's not available online anymore. I will also keep an updated .pdf on my Google Drive so you can get the latest version.
