Is she going to carry, or will this remain at home?
I had a 642. I gave it to my dad. Fat and heavy, joyless to shoot. The simplicity is admirable, but I just got sick of trying to lug it around. Replaced it with a Sig 938 that I absolutely love. If she's not going to carry, and you want her to have a revolver of some kind, I would go with a larger framed .38 of some flavor. How about a Ruger SP101 in .38?
