Mind you I do believe in helping out my fellow man (or even that occasional animal) but that is down to my religion.
Karma (as it is being interpreted here) is just doing good hoping for payback... like paying into your IRA... nothing altruistic about it.
Or (if I understand it correctly) the Islamic belief that when you die they (whoever "they" are) weigh your good and bad deeds and if the good outweighs the bad you get into heaven (WIN!).

Just my ideology bit I feel we should do good for the sake of doing good... when livi heals a child he does it because that is what he loves to do... sure he gets some financial compensation for his time but that in no way compares to the good he is doing. (if I may presume to know what livi thinks/feels/does)
