I grew up in a wealthy area. Many kids parents' bought them cars. Some bought them new cars. Some even had BMWs and Mercedes. One kid even had a highly modified 3000GT VR4. I myself had a rusty Plymouth Turismo that I bought for myself.

At my 10 year reunion, there seemed to be a high correlation between kids whose parents bought them expensive cars in high school and young adults who still lived with their parents 10 years later.
