(Re-) Did the first half of of the water pump job. Previous attempt resulted in a leaking gasket, presumably due to insufficient cleaning. Took 2.5ish hours to get to the WP, then I spent 3 hours (on and off) with gasket cleaner and a rag. Finished up with acetone, brake cleaner, wet sand w/ 600 grit and WD-40, then more brake cleaner. Both surfaces are now silky smooth to the touch.
Everything gets Hylomar before torque tomorrow. I don't intend to do this job again.
I probably won't be driving till next weekend. I broke a radiator drain plug off in the radiator, so I'll be waiting for a few new ones to come in. Noticed the rear cam tower gasket leaking while I was pulling plugs, so that'll be done too. More Hylomar there, because it's my favorite new hammer.
