There was no Police report filed in my case. Everyone exchanged insurance information and went on their way.
I've node a lot of googling on the topic and I've read conflicting reports on whether or not insurance companies send reports to Carfax. I've also read that the impact to resale value could be as high as 50% (OUCH).
