I'm guessing you could keep the original DME around, provide it with power/ground and speed/reference sensors, and it 'might' work fine with nothing else connected. Take a flywheel and mount it on a lathe with the sensors rigged up to give it a test!

As an alternative, convert your DME software to use a MAP sensor and just use it to drive the ignition timing. Warning: not sure that MAP sensors work so well with individual PMO's... BTW, does anybody still make or sell the Andial splitters for twin plugging?

Sounds like a project, but if you have the time, could be a fun one.
