10 years ago today I brought home my first (and still current) Porsche. 119600 km on it when I bought it, and it's at about 205 now, so over 85000 km. It's had 3 engines - the original numbers-matching 2.4, a hot-rodded 1967 2.0L an the current 1982 3.0L. (I still have the original - it's on the garage floor awaiting a rebuild). When I bought the car I didn't know what a fan belt was. Since then I've not only changed that fan belt, but been through almost every inch of the car, including a transmission rebuild, carburetor rebuild, brakes, clutch, suspension, interior, almost all DIY. Just about the only thing I haven't done is the engine rebuild.
I've had other Porsches along the way (83 944, 99 boxster, 86 911) and driven plenty of them (I've driven every generation of 911 except the 991), but this is the one that's stayed with me, and likely always will. Not that I don't appreciate the modern ones, but my heart is truly in old cars.
