The door panel clips will most certainly break unless you get them to release just right.......997 panel clips are self locking and very tight.....i have a snap on panel clip tool which works well....
After the panel is off you need to unbolt the inner door skin panel, lay a blanket over the door sill towards the front so you don't scratch your car....
The switch I've seen fail is built into the door latch assembly, not sure if you can just get that part of it on its own.....
