My home was all electric. I had a 1000 gal underground propane tank installed in the back yard last fall. Ran lines to a gas grill on the back deck, added a gas cooktop and a line to it and lines to each of my 3 fireplaces (one per floor). I bought 3 top of the line, vent free, gas logs to install. Got them end-of-season, si they were 75% off.
So far, I have only installed one of them on the main floor. It looks very nice, is very efficient, and puts out a lot of heat (38,000 BTU). It works with a remote control so it is pretty slick. Not much use for ambiance because it puts out so much heat that you cannot leave it on long or you will be too hot unless the normal heat is off entirely. Probably overkill, but I could heat the entore house with them if necessary. They will be nice if the electricity goes out as it has in other winters.
Only 31F this morning at my house. First frost to scrape this year. Got to rotate the daily driver into the garage.
