Yes the Case uses a hydraulic drive not to be confused with hydrostatic. I am not familiar with this drive system but it seems very simple. I don't plan on racing it so speed not an issue. Especially if I convert it to a one/two cylinder diesel ! While I am going with cash in hand and my trailer in tow that doesn't guarantee I'll buy it. I'll let you guys know later today.
I've had my eye on a JD 317 also but the price is higher and it's missing side panels and front grill. It appears to have a Gen II Kohler twin cylinder engine which is a much better engine than the Gen 1. Also never ruling out an older Cub but they seem more scarce around here.
