I have about a 10 year old Sony point and shoot (8 mega pixel), good for my travels. It had like a 1/2 Gig memory card about 60 pics IIRC. Going to NZ and AU in a few weeks I decided to get a 16 gig card, $10 at Amazon Prime. I also bought a 16 gig micro SD card for my Samsung tablet, another $10, which effectively triples my tablet memory for movies when sitting at airports.
Looking at Amazon I can get a new Sony point and shoot with a 20 mega pixel resolution, a Zeiss lens and a 16 gig card for around $100. I think my Sony Pictures contact could get it for me for 2/3rds of that or around $70.
Ten years ago, IIRC a 16 gig memory card was close to $100.
