Not technically delta, but give Big Bill Broonzy a listen.
I'd also recommend early Chicago blues... Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, Sonny Boy
The blues is just intoxicating. Luckily as a 18 year old kid(30 years ago) I saw Buddy Guy. Having an attraction to the blues then, he cemented a life long love affair with the blues.
