Well I have a different take on this. Be careful what you wish for. An ancestry search could end up with some undesirable consequences that you had not thought of. So here goes. Here is an example. Say you did a research and found that your grandfather had an illegitimate child. You then contacted the illegitimate child and perhaps that child was not as wealthy as you. The child feeling hard done then pursues you.

I know statute of limitations can come into it, appeals to the will etc. Don't ask me how I know. Sometimes you don't want to know. If you knew you might drop it like a hot potato.......
