Handoff requires Bluetooth 4.
Mac Minis and Airs from 2011 and on
MacBook Pro and iMacs from 2012 and on
MacPro only the new one from 2013 and on
Handoff will not work on anything older
Have in my list to add a BT 4 USB dongle to see if it'll work just have not been that motivated yet.
