Scammers and eBay seem to have a co-dependent relationship.
Between people 'scrubbing' their feedback; flipping to alternate account names until their negatives time out at 12 months, and closing auctions early to sell direct (or worse, letting you win and then telling you 'oh, sorry, my assistant failed to stop the auction when we sold the car privately'), eBay is a festering swamp.
But, I've had some minor luck there. Generally, it's the venue of last resort.
