Well I'll preface things by saying I'm going off a decade old brain-cells on this.
Anyway, I'll sugest you test the input. . . being that the voltage output, from the hall effect is minimal (measuring induced electron drift)
The Bentley shop manual should tell you which pins should be tested for voltage.
Or, just simply remove the dist' plate that carries the hall sensor, and look at the bottom side for broken wires.
