I did it the other way around. After paying a squillion $ for the green wire I was not going to cut it. I went to a self serve bone yard and snagged a couple of the female connectors from a wrecked Jetta then soldered the two wires from the connector to the wire going to the CD box.

Not a pro job and I would rather see KEMO get a couple of new connectors (extra one for the learning curve) and figure out how to connect the wires directly to the internal clips if he goes that route.
