Concerts are actually a good deal quieter these days. Live sound has come a long way.
Keep in mind that most major artists only make money off live shows. There is no money in albums anymore.
There's only a handful of bands I'd pay good money to see. Tool, for example. I have no problem supporting the art I enjoy.
