Scary part is that Porsche intended to replace the 911 with the 928!
The other models Motion mentions are what I call aspirational Porsches. They deserve the badge and are a great way to sample a taste of the Porsche magic. My first car was a lowly euro-engined '77 924, and it was good enough to hook me on the marque, and led to 911 lust.. I upgraded to a 944, then more than 20 911s over the years.
The Boxster is today's aspirational Porsche. The SUVs and sedans on the other hand...I still can't bring myself to consider them worthy of the badge no matter how good (for their class) they are.
