Personally, I never have dug the 924/928/944 variants and 914s do nothing for me.
I have driven a 944S2 and was duly impressed with the performance but for me the pinnacle of Porsche is the 911 in any configuration.
There aren't many Porsches around here but if I happen to run across one I try to talk to the owner, no matter what model they have.
Many years ago, someone reminded that there is always with a better version of whatever you have. We were talking cars but you could apply that to most anything.
My stuff is not that great which makes it pretty easy to be humble.
