There is no definitive evidence that glucosamine or chondroitin do anything at all to help with arthritis. They may reduce the load on your knees by making your wallet lighter, but that's about it. One discussion:

I have knee arthritis (and now suspect arthritis in a hip) so I would be all over these things if they really worked.
