My knee arthritis was diagnosed by an orthopedic surgeon. When I asked about glucosamine and other treatments, he actually laughed out loud and told me not to waste my money. He drew me a chart of treatments (exercise, etc.) that ended with "total knee replacement".
I have looked into this a lot (arthritis treatment) and it seems to me that unless you're the kind of person that just wants to try stuff for the heck of it (and potentially waste a lot of money), there simply is no evidence that any of the snake oils on the market provide effective treatment.
I'm going with booze also.
