Isn't it possible that our Alien overlords "crafted us in their own image" with just a few minor deviations? Seems to me that concept is already around with different titles.

To those who speculate alien origins, there is an important sentence in the article provided by the second link. According to the DNA test results, "The DNA was modern, abundant, and high quality," he says, indicating that the
specimen is probably a few decades old" (emphasis mine.)
Now, this doesn't eliminate the possibility that the human race may have been "planted" by extraterrestrials, but this particular specimen provides no more conclusive evidence of alien intervention than any other currently living human being, all of whom have some unidentified genetic tracers.
