Maybe at some point in time you or PO's put the oil res cap face down on the ground or garage floor to take dipstick reading.....and the little thing stuck to the cap..... and was not noticed when it was replaced.
It then fell from cap....into the oil tank.
All in all......would go on like it never happened.
