Mine is 924S. I knew nothing about Porsche before I get this baby. Now it's a little bit over 3 months old for me. It's a high mile car with 150k miles. Generally it's cheap. I bought it in purpose of killing some my spare time and have fun at the same time. It runs pretty good so far.
The only major fix is a new header since the old manifold was cracked very bad. The next one will be timing belt and seals. I use various resources including myself, my friends and mechanics to fix it. I think it's the best way to keep my maintain cost (time and $$$) down. This great BBS gives me alot ideas for maintaining my car.
I can do all minor fixes such as power steering reservoir leak and fluid change, hood shocks, sun roof, small electric fixes and here or there things. I paid $50 to my friend for putting my new header on. I don't want to squeeze underneath the car for a long time. Plus I was short on tools.
I will use Porsche mechanic for timing belt (really front engine). He quoted me $380 for labor. I found parts are about $300-$400 including water pump and seals. I also found a very good home based paint shop to repaint my car for $400. I may use him if I really want a shiny old car.
It's a good idea we get together sometime this summer. Do you guys know any autocross or any other activities around this area?
