A little trouble at the launch
Ah, Fremont Dragstrip. Was less than a coupla miles from my house. Opened in 1958, closed in 1988. Southern Pacific owns the property, shut down the then Baylands Raceway to build commercial and residential (sound familiar?). It is still open land due to the contamination of 30 years of dumping oil and coolant into the ground. I still have a memorial in my living room to a place that put the needle in my arm for racing. A chunk of asphalt from the starting line.
