Maybe jail time for Jayson Werth- busted 105 in a 55 driving Pooch 911
'Pressing' his luck, eh?
Washington Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth was sentenced to 10 days in jail with 170 suspended after a judge found him guilty of reckless driving.
Werth also loses his driver's license for six months.
On July 6, Werth was pulled over on the Capital Beltway in Fairfax County, Va., for driving 105 mph in a 55-mph zone, according to court records.
Werth's attorney said he plans to appeal the conviction.
"The Washington Nationals have been in communication with right fielder Jayson Werth regarding this situation for multiple weeks," a Nationals spokesman said in an e-mailed statement in August. "Jayson is cooperating with the authorities. As it is an ongoing legal matter, the team has no further comment."
According to the state trooper who pulled Werth over in his Porsche 911, when asked what Werth was doing driving 105 MPH, he responded: "Pressing my luck."
