I replaced the water pump on my 89 auto lux with a refurb from pelican parts (part E-106-021-24X ) it was a rebuilt 86 model and the impeller was slightly different to the one I took out..

I had it installed and developed some overheating problems, I posted here and got some good ideas as to what to check, thermostat, radiator , belt tightness, etc..

However all seems ok, the shop is now saying that it might be the water pump itself…
Not sure I buy that line yet, but the are going to put a new one in to test it.

Before I start shouting at them, have any of you ever noticed difference with the water pump impellers? And does this problem ring any bells for anyone? Could I have received the wrong water pump by mistake? (The box was clearly labelled as rebuild 86 for 89 and S2)
