i was pre-med at the university and quickly realized that i would be owned by the system, if i became a MD. i dropped that major. i did enjoy the anthropology, biology, and chemistry courses i took, however.
if i were to do it again, i might become that MD, but i'd only do housecalls, cash at the door. word of mouth only. if the patients want their insurance billed, i'd have the forms for them to do it themselves.
as i've continued my career in healthcare and spoken with drs. and observed, it is abundantly clear that my initial assessment is accurate.
