I have no kids so I am an expert at how others should be better parents.
I too was an Air Force brat and we traveled a lot. Mom and dad had a low tolerance from my point of view as a kid. I suspect they were more tolerant than many because of my brother. I was a model child and every single sibling fight and all the problems were always his fault. That is my story and I am sticking to it.
One of my earliest memories is riding for what seemed forever in a Air Force C-54 sitting in a seat facing backward unpressurized to Hawaii when I was 5. No in flight movies, no iPod no DVD player, no electronic gizmos at all. Just a coloring book, nothing to look at except endless ocean waves. Talk about boring.
I had to look it up. The cruise speed was 227 MPH and the distance from LA to Hickam AFB is 2,500 miles so 11 hours!
I still have to feel sorry for my mom on that trip. She had to get dressed up in formal wear. High heels, long gloves, hat and so on. The style of 1959 formal wear (Officer's wife attire) and put up with my brother and I for that 11 hour flight.
