Tried the mono vision thing for a year and it really did not work for me. The distance portion was OK but I still could not read small close up text.
Went for my prescription renewal and told the Doc it sucked. Preferred to go with just distance and I'll use reading glasses as needed.
She convinced me to try the mono thing for another week but with a stronger reading lens.
Feels like I'm seeing double but I'm not. I can read stuff, not perfect but better, but still the experience kind of sucks.

FWIW tried progressive glasses. Hated them.

I tried it as well, and I couldn't get the hang of it. My doc and I tried a bunch of different combos. Distance vision was what I finally went with, and reading glasses.
For glasses, progressives work just fine for me, IF the computer monitor is set to the correct height. Otherwise, it's harder than just straight distance correction glasses.
