I did that 2 months ago. The old muffler can not handle that much airflow. Some metal pieces are loose and cause the noise. To solve this, I weld old cat back on. Before doing this make sure your cat is still good. In my case, my muffler looks still good and no rust. It will be your choice either get a new muffler or get cat back.
You would not lose hp you can feel after you put cat back. Plus you make your car legal on the street.
