I had a halogen floor lamp in my garage. Had a handy man painting a bedroom so I brought the lamp into the room as it was nice and bright. Painter knocked over the lamp and then decided to go out side and smoke a cig. A few minutes later he saw smoke pouring out of the window. Unfortunately he did not close off the bedroom door so the house filled with smoke. fire damage was the carpet and a part of a dresser, so no big deal. Because of the smoke the entire house had to be painted and everything cleaned.
Lesson learned, no halogen in house. Fire dept said they cause a lot of fires. The gas in a bulb is over 2,000 F degrees. When the lamp fell over the bulb exploded and the glass shards ignited the fire.
Check out these new magnetic LED rechargeable lights. I have a few of them and they are great. If I find a link I will post it.
